Household hazardous waste day coming up By Gazette-Times
Spring cleaning got you wondering what to do with an old computer or a half-empty container of paint or pesticide?
Allied Waste will take household hazardous wastes and electronics items off your hands this Saturday at no charge.
The quarterly household hazardous waste roundup will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Allied Waste lot at the corner of Highway 99W and Walnut Boulevard.
Area residents can bring items labeled “caution,” “hazardous,” “danger,” “poison” or “flammable” to the event and drop them off at no charge.
Also accepted will be electronics, batteries, fluorescent light tubes and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
No appliances will be accepted.
There is no charge to residential customers except for televisions and microwave recycling. It will cost $10 to drop off a TV and $5 to get rid of an old microwave.
Businesses wishing to dispose of hazardous materials can call Phillips Environmental at 800-547-2436 to make an appointment to dispose of the waste on Friday.
Businesses disposing of hazardous materials will be charged a fee.
