Anthony Wheat-Brown, the starting flanker for the Oregon State football team, has been suspended for Saturday’s game at Stanford, coach Mike Riley said Thursday afternoon.
The junior violated team rules, but Riley wouldn’t elaborate any more.
Wheat-Brown is expected to rejoin the team next week in preparation for the Civil War on Nov. 24.
Senior Ruben Jackson will start in Wheat-Brown’s place, Riley said. It will be Jackson’s first game in three weeks. Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain Oct. 21 at Arizona.
“We’ll be fine; depth shouldn’t be a problem,” Riley said. “Ruben has been looking good in practice this week. Chris Johnson will back him up and (split end) Sammie Stroughter.”
Wheat-Brown is a third-year starter. He has caught 21 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns this season. Jackson has five receptions for 139 yards and a TD.
