Write an editorial

On Tuesdays we regularly feature the writing of area students who “Write an Editorial” as part of the Gazette-Times’ Newspapers in Education program.

This week, students in the second-grade class of Russ Harris at Wilson Elementary School share their thoughts about Wildcat Park, which recently was closed due to safety concerns.

Hi, my name is John. I am very sad because Wildcat Park is going to be torn down. I would be bored playing with my games. Then I came to Wildcat Park and it was the best place in the world and it was my best friend.

I remember about Wildcat Park. I was sad because it closed. There was a lot of trees. I liked to jump over the tires.

I remember Wildcat Park like this. I remember playing there. I remember playing football and basketball there. I remember playing on swings. I miss it, but the good thing is that they’re building a new park.

What I remember about Wildcat Park — I remember playing at Wildcat Park with my friends. We loved to play there. Wildcat Park closed Jan. 6. I went there for a birthday party. I felt sad when they closed Wildcat Park. I had lots of fun at Wildcat Park.

Wildcat Park memories — I remember Wildcat Park like this. I had my birthday party there. I met Wildcat when I was in kindergarten, Sept. 7, 2003. I was glad Wildcat was there for me. I explored Wildcat and had perfect memories. It was there for me all the time.

This is what I remember of Wildcat Park. When I was 4, I climbed to the top of Wildcat Park and saw the whole park. Once me and my family went on a picnic there and my brother spun me around and around and around on the yellow tire swing. And I tried to push him, but I couldn’t. So, I got help from my other brother.

I remember Wildcat Park like this. I remember playing there after school with my friend Maggie. We played Egypt, nature, horses, dogs, magic land and monsters, chase, and girlfriends. My favorite part was the middle of the park. There was a flat part and steps all around. I remember my dad and brother and I came there to play. We played soccer, football, and jump rope. I met lots friends there. When I first saw it, I knew I would love it. I will miss it!

Madison Boock

q

I remember playing at Wildcat Park after school with Madison. My favorite part of the park was the tire swing and the slides. I used to play at Wildcat after soccer practice. Madison and I liked to “rock” climb on the tire bridge. We liked to tumble down the slide and run around the park.

Sometimes we looked for crystals in the rocks. I liked to swing on the monkey bars.

This is my memories of Wildcat Park. Wildcat was a real thing that made me happy. The date was Jan. 6 when they closed the park. When I heard it was closing, I just went crazy! It really broke my heart when I heard it was going to get torn down. I have remembered that park since I was 2 years old!

My grandma likes to take us to Wildcat Park and it was so fun.

When I moved here in the summer, we went to our school. The first thing we saw was a big gigantic park out of wood. I felt really excited to play on it. The first time I got to play on it was with my friends. It had really good hiding places. It had swings, tire swings, a slide, and a maze. Even now I didn’t have enough time with it. I still like it a lot.

I first remember Wilson Wildcat Park when I first got there and I had no friends. I would always meet a friend there. Wildcat Park was always there for me.

Hi, my name is Josh and I want to tell you what great memories I had at Wildcat Park. When I had no one to play with, I had Wildcat there for me.

So I started to explore there. Then I started climbing and I loved Wildcat Park from that day on.
