EDITORIALS represent the viewpoint of the newspaper's editorial board. They are unsigned, and are published under an "Editorial" logo. Editorials from other newspapers, published under an "Other views" logo, as well as other features on the page, do not necessarily represent the viewpoint of the Gazette-Times.
LETTERS to the editor generally should be no longer than 250 words. Anonymous letters will not be published.
Only the name and the town of the author are published, but letters must include a street address and daytime telephone number for verification.
Letters that rail against an individual or business, are obscene or libelous or are poems will not be published.
AS I SEE IT columns must be 600 words or fewer. Local authors and shorter columns are preferred.
"As I see it" columns are more selectively chosen. Well-accepted are columns that present a clear, fresh viewpoint on an issue.
